Holiday Valley Scores a Record November!
With over 71 inches of snow and some early cold temperatures, Holiday Valley set a new record for the month of November. The twenty-eight inches of snow that fell on November 16-17 and the snow making temperatures that week prompted resort officials to open 9 days ahead of schedule. This was a gift from Mother Nature, and we took advantage of it. We packed the slopes right away to let the cold air reach the ground, and then we made snow on top of that to create a base. More natural snow has fallen resulting in incredible conditions, especially for this early in the season, said Steve Crowley, Director of Mountain Operations.
Skier and rider traffic has been outstanding and Holiday Valley lodging and retail have been especially busy for this time of year. The early skiing not only benefits the Resort, but it has had a ripple effect in boosting the local economy. Holiday Valley has brought on much of their winter staff, and more jobs mean more commerce. The Village has been busy with shoppers and diners and the snow has given everyone an optimistic outlook for the season ahead.
