THE BARN SHOW
“Come as a stranger and leave as a friend!!”
It started four years ago with just a few artists creating arts and crafts for a week-end pre- Holiday sale; they set up in part of barn at the home of Mary-Kay Schreckengost on East Bucktooth Run in Salamanca. Over the years the show has grown to include more artists and craftsmen, The true day in the country has blossomed into a large show with additional wares under tented protection lining the way to the barn All the while the show keeps the ambience of a social gathering including free refreshments and baked goods to sample and buy.
The yearly Repeat clientele of customers is ever increasing; the works for sale continued to be top notch fine and craft art at extremely affordable prices. The Barn doors open at 10 am so in order to get a photo or two of the artistic group I arrived at 8:45. To my surprise there where already people, patiently standing in line waiting for the bewitching hour. Having a camera and a press pass has its advantages-I was allowed to enter the Barn to preview the goods. There before my eyes was a spectacular array of hand painted furniture, benches, side tables, end tables, desks and more. Holiday décor was abundant; Santa’s, snowmen, reindeer and snowflakes adorned the walls amidst some wonderful acrylic and watercolors worthy of a gallery.
If you missed the Show this year-you passed up a wonderful escapade! Next years date has already been set the Barn Show-2009 November 7-8.
