ROUTES TO ART

SECOND YEAR OF OPEN STUDIO TOUR
TO FEATURE ARTISTS AND ARTISANS FROM
THE REGION AND THE SENECA NATION

An Open Studio weekend on May 16-17 2009

In May of 2008, the Cattaraugus County Arts Council debuted Routes to Art to much acclaim. Visitors from as far away as Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Rochester and Canada visited studios all over the region to see and purchase artwork.

The 2209 Routes to Art promises to be even bigger and better with an invitation Extended to Allegany County Artists to Apply for Routes to Art. During the Routes to Art weekend, all artists will display their work in Cattaraugus County, and Northern Pennsylvania, with a special focus on Native American artists on the Seneca Nation. Group exhibition hubs are now being formed.

To view juried artists and plan your itinerary visit website, www.routestoart.com. The site holds all of last year’s juried artists; most of whom are preparing new works for the 2009 Routs to Art weekend. The site includes individual artist pages with in-depth information on portfolios, artist statements, and directions.

In April of 2009, a month long Routes to Art artist’s Exhibition will be held at the Regina A. Quick Center at St. Bonaventure University. The Exhibition is open to the public and will commence with a gala opening reception. The opening reception will provide a sneak peek at the art and a chance for viewers to meet the artists.

As a participating artist in last years memorable Routes to Art I can already feel the excitement of the upcoming event. The most unforgettable moment was when I first saw my painting hanging on display at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts.
