AMBER FISH -PASTELS
In 1999 a car accident left Amber Fish with severe injuries that keep her wheelchair bound. After her recovery Amber was not able to return to her physical job, Amber applied and was accepted to Jamestown Community College. She has since received two degrees the first in Human Services the second in Fine and Studio Arts. Amber then continued on to Empire State to get her Bachelors Degree in Human Services
Amber, started drawing at a very early age; encouraged by her grandmother’s insight and love of art, she continued to pursue art all through school. The 1999 graduate of Salamanca High School credits her art teachers for seeing her potential; praising the instructors that took the time to help her learn new mediums and perfect the techniques behind them.
Amber’s Pastels are striking-one can feel the mood of the subject. She uses pastels to tell her story and help over come events in her life. Her work as an artist does not stop with pastels, she has used many mediums during her journey as an artist. Amber designs and makes quilts she also writes poetry and enjoys computer art and layout design this knowledge has allows Amber to substitute at a college level.
When not creating art Amber keeps busy by tutoring and, mentoring kids. She is helping and inspiring kids by giving them insight to art and culture that they would otherwise not be exposed to.
Amber joined the Creative Women’s Alliance in 2007; the group encouraged Amber to do more with her art, and since was accepted to a juried show at JCC. Her works were on display at The Ellicottville Memorial Library and now Amber is looking forward to showing with her fellow artists of the Creative Women’s Alliance, December 6th at the Olean Library.
