Local Bank Gives Back

A while back CCB (Cattaraugus County Bank) received a letter from the Little Valley Campus of Cattaraugus Little Valley Central School stating that they were developing an educational project in partnership with community businesses. The project would allow Little Valley (LV) elementary classrooms to adopt a business in the Village. At LV Elementary, they are teaching the students to become a “community of learners”. By piloting a community educational project their hope is that the students become familiar with the village businesses, not only by name, but by location, and services provided. They were anxious to include any interested businesses …

CCB JUMPED ON THE BAND WAGON and said without hesitation: “ABSOLUTELY”!
CCB is now a proud Partner in Education with the 3rd Grade at LV Elementary School.
Students that CCB partnered with will be displaying their work (i.e. writing, artwork, projects etc.), giving them a strong sense of pride when seeing the work displayed in this manner.
ENJOY …. And Happy Spring from CCB and CLVCS LV Elementary!!

Thursday, April 16th, CCB presented the proceeds of the 2009 Spring for Dinner to the Memorial Library of Little Valley. On March 21st, CCB’s America’s Promise Team held a spaghetti dinner with all proceeds benefiting the local library. Because of its success, at yesterday’s America’s Promise meeting the Team voted to make this an annual event. The library plans to purchase children’s books with the entire $1000. Gretchen Taft, Librarian (center), was extremely pleased and appreciative to receive the check from CCB’s America’s Promise Team members Missy Smith (left) and Jamie Greene (right).

CCB joined America’ Promise in 1999 and has been helping area children ever since. America’s Promise is a children’s-aid organization founded in 1997 by Alma Powell with her husband, General Colin Powell. Five promises anchor the effort: to succeed in life, all young people need caring adults, safe places, a healthy start, effective education and opportunities to help others.
