Great Valley Town Board Meeting

The Great Valley Town Board held was held on March 9th at 7:PM at the Great Valley Town Hall with the following members present; Supervisor Dan Brown, Council Members Ted La Croix, Gary Howe, Lori Finch, and Ann Rockwell. Highway Superintendent Jack Harrington, Attorney Ron Ploetz, Code Enforcement Officer Rob Germain, and Town Clerk Toni Evans. Absent was Town Assessor Jeff Forster.
A motion was made to accept the minutes from the February 9th Town Board Meeting, motion carried.
The Town Accountants, Jack and Cathy Berry were in attendance to present the 2008 End of the Year Annual Report. The ending comment made by Mr. Berry that the “Town of Great Valley is in good shape.” The 2009 Budget appropriations was approved.
Three bids had been received, reviewed, and decisions made for this year’s maintenance of the town’s cemetaries, town hall property, and the park.
Great Valley Memorial Park stone work is to begin in building the Memorial Wall in Mid-April to the first part of May. A tree will be planted also in the park in Memory of Past Town Assessor, Building Officer Jim Woodmancy.
Assessor Jeff Forster submitted the following dates that he will be available at the Great Valley Town Hall to sit with the assessment roll for any residnets to review. May 6 at 1 - 5pm, May 12 at 4:30 - 8:30pm, May 20 at 12N - 4pm, May 23 at 9 - 1pm, and May 28 Grievence Day at 5 - 9pm.
Planning Board Yvonne Darts reported an individual has shown interest in the Old Woodshed Restaurant to be converted in to a Teen Club.
Code Officer Rob Germain had no report though mentioned with the weather to improve property maintenance throughout the town will be observed.
Highway Superintendant reported cleaning and painting of the equipment has been completed, and working on patching potholes.
Under Old Business the 911 signs (which are the Town of great Valley’s residents house numbers) have not arrived yet nor the stakes to attached them to.
The Town Board recognized Town Justice Pete Stokes whom made it posible for the town to recieve the Jay-Cap Grant of $6,200 which arrived in two parts. Part I used for new computers and printers, and Part II used for the new software to be installed which updated the Judge’s Chambers.
The Town provided insurance coverage for 90+ children which played on the basketball team and had the opportunity to play at the Riley Center. Insurance coverage was also provided for the 45+ sign-ups for the indoor soccer league.
In closing Supervisor Dan Brown announced this years assessments is at 2.26% which is down from last years 2.27%.
Next scheduled Great Valley Town Board Meeting is April 13th at 7pm.
