Lounsbury Adaptive Instructors Travel to Peek -n- Peak
On Monday, February 23rd, 4 instructors, Kyle Dekdebrun, Jason Lee, Steve O’Neill, and director Mary Ellen Racich drove to Peek -n- Peak with the Mountain Man Bi-Ski. Their goal was to get Bill Geise, former ski school director at Peek -n- Peak, back on the snow.
Bill (aka Honk) was in a car accident on his way home from the Peak in January of 1996. Bill suffered a traumatic brain injury. He is a quadriplegic and lives in a facility in Erie. Every winter he makes shushing sounds and salmon motions with his one good hand. His wife and caregivers wanted to get him back on the snow, and they did.
Bill took four runs in the Mountain Man Bi-Ski and loved it! He was smiling and happy the whole time. Many of his friends and family were there to wish him well.
The LASP instructors hope to get Bill out one more time this winter. They share his love of skiing.

Congratulations to our New Level I PSIA Adaptive Instructors. From left to right: Doug Kennedy, Erika Schwegler, Jane Anderson, Bill Haile, Becky Anderson, Mary Ann Kostusiak. Missing: Vic Anderson and Mike Higgins. Vic, Bill, Doug and Mike are doubly certified with PSIA. Jane, Mary Ann and Erika are newly certified adaptive instructors. We are proud of all of them for their hard work in achieving this certification from Professional Ski Instructors of America.
