OLEAN HOSTS AN ANTIQUE FAIR
“I Wonder If This Is Worth Anything?”
Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28

Organized by the Jamestown Community College Cattaraugus County Campus Alumni Association and the Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce, the appraisal fair presents noted Olean area antique experts who will examine your items and tell you if you’re sitting on a gold mine or saving sentimental keepsakes. The Fair and Marketplace will take place at JCC-Olean Cutco Theater with hours on Friday from 5 - 8 PM and Saturday 9 AM - 3 PM.

Mark your calendar for this special weekend in March. By attending Olean’s Antique Appraisal Fair & Marketplace you’ll find out the answer to that nagging question, “I wonder if this is worth anything?”

The Fair will offer expert appraisals courtesy of a team led by Greg Carter, owner of United Auctions and Antiques.  Carter is a native of Olean who has been in antique appraising and auctioneering for over 13 years, eight years as a licensed auctioneer.  He will be assisted by Jim Goodling from College Fund Antiques; Todd Czerwinski from Erie Estate Buyers, Gary Hollamby from Country Gentlemen Antiques, Martin Maynard from Ask  Design Jewelers and several others specializing in specific fields of interest in antiques.  During the fair, appraisers will offer a broad spectrum of antique information. In addition, specialists will cover jewelry, watches, furniture, books, postcards, dolls and toys, quilts, paintings and prints, china, glassware and pottery, vintage clothing and more.

You may bring up to three of your “prized possessions,” which must be portable.  Appraisal fees are $5 per item or $10 for three items. When bringing in an item to be reviewed, please include any related handwritten or typed identifying information about your collectible. Rather than transporting a large piece of furniture, bring a drawer and/or a photograph. If you are seeking information about firearms or weapons of any kind, please bring only photographs.  Participants will be given a number upon arrival, and can enjoy refreshments while they wait.

Proceeds will benefit both the JCC Alumni Association and GOACC projects such as Santa Claus Lane and Allegheny River Valley Trail.  The dealers are donating their time so that all proceeds of the event can support these projects.

This year’s event will also feature an Antique Marketplace “BUY AND SELL” area. Sellers will bring in an antique item, provide a brief description of it, set an asking price, and display it in the marketplace.  The fee to set up in the marketplace is $30.  There is no charge to come in and listen to the evaluations or to purchase from the “buy and sell” area. Visitors are sure to hear plenty of interesting conversations and useful facts.

The CUTCO Theater is located on the Jamestown Community College Olean Campus.  From North Union Street (Route 16), you will turn onto Hamilton Street, take a right onto North Barry Street.  Take a left onto Tompkins Street, and then a left onto North Clinton Street.  You will enter the parking lot with the Theater located at the left edge of the lot.  For more information, please call GOACC, 716/372-4433, United Auctions, 307-3405,  or email events@oleanny.com.
