Along with awareness is the constant need for new research and research costs money.

Reaching the goal set for next weekends “Boarding For Breast Cancer” fundraiser, slated for Holiday Valley, prompted the Timkey’s owners of Alpine Ski and Snowboard Rental to donate $500.00 to the benefit. The Timpkey are in hopes that other business and community members respond, thus insuring the success of this important fund raiser. The challenge comes from the dedication to help stomp out Cancer for like many families Cancer has touched the lives of the Timkey’s.

Praising Holiday Valley for taking the lead for promoting such a dynamic event, Mike Timkey stated that we as a community have a giant opportunity to get the word out to the public. With that in mind the Powder Room and Boardroom are hosting an all female event promoted by Samantha Timkey.

Here are her thoughts for the event:

“B4BC is an NPO that focuses on breast cancer awareness and prevention. Their mission is condensed into three simple aspects: increase awareness, early prevention, and living an active lifestyle.

In conjunction with Holiday Valley’s Women’s Riding day, we wanted to contribute to such an awesome cause. It’s one that is near and dear to us, and we really appreciate everything the B4BC team does. We wanted to be actively involved in an event that will hopefully be the first footprint for many future soirees.

Since we opened the Powder Room six years ago, we have really been able to cater to female snowsports enthusiasts, and we are still the only snowboard specific shop in town.

“Next Saturday, on Valentine’s Day the Powder Room is hosting an all female shopping social to help women and girls find like minded people, those who love to be on the hill. We’ve named it Park, Pink, Prevention to tie in all of the aspects of the day. We hope that by inviting all women to congregate in the Boardroom/Powder Room, they will be encouraged to become even more amped about the sport and aide in the cause for the cure.

In addition to our own donation, we will also have several fundraisers going on throughout the night. And what’s an evening in a store without a little shopping? We will also be handing out goodie bags with every purchase, door prizes will be distributed, and all proceeds will go to B4BC. So regardless of whether you want to join us or not, but still want to contribute, make sure you check out the B4BC website (b4bc.org) for direct donations.
