THE ELLICOTTVILLE WINTER SCENE (10-26-2008 By Gerlind Dubey)
THE ELLICOTTVILLE DEPOT • KIDS WELCOME

“There’s no way to plan the fun that always just happens at The Depot”

Vicky and Chris (Moose) Brown turned an abandoned train station into one of the most happening spots in Ellicottville.

Owners of the Depot since 1994, they were brought up in the true tradition of a skiing family; both have fond memories of packing up the family to come skiing in Ellicottville. These memories are the basis that has made the Depot such a favorite family spot for food and entertainment. Kids are not only welcome they are appreciated! Bring a dozen, fill them full of pizza, wings, make the biggest mess & it’s all ok; the most kid friendly restaurant you’ll ever find in Ellicottville is the Depot.
Funky art, Photo’s of visiting celebs, a shabby chic décor and a welcoming hello add to the ambience of this unique restaurant. To entertain young and old while waiting to be served the best pizza, 36 varieties to be exact, chicken wings, and deep fried pickles in town, there’s always the latest Ski Adventure / Riding flick on the big screen; add that to the friendliest wait staff around, and you’ve got the successful combination that has second generation adults return yearly with their kids to experience a family ski tradition at the Depot.

Over the years Vicky and Moose have made a multitude of friends in the ski and snowboard industry, You will never know who you will run into at the Depot. On any given day Glen Plake of skiing fame may pull in with his eighteen wheeler mobile home, discovering Ellicottville through the Browns Glen and his wife Kimberly have adopted the Depot and it’s family as home! The Depot is a regular stop for “Radio Ron” who was featured skiing the bumps at Holiday Valley in “Wanderland” an action pack flick produced by Meat Head Productions. Another rising ski star “Eckley” of Ellicottville is featured skiing the bumps in Meat Heads latest ski flick Head For the Hills.

The Depot shifts into high gear turning from a friendly family restaurant to a responsive party bar at about 10pm. If you like Red Bull, Jagermeister & The Rolling Stones, ski tales and fun you’ll feel right at home in this action packed atmosphere.

Now add to the mix “Suburban Blend,” owned and operated by local boarder Billy Bacon, has set up a store front – at the rear of the Depot. Suburban Blend offers the latest snowboard gear, accessories, duds and gab to spiff up your ride.
