Pfeiffer Nature Center

Pfiefer Nature Center is offering snowshoe rentals throughtout the winter season (see Special Shorts, Pg 2). Renters can use the snowshoes anywhere. They are not limited to use on our sites. Pfeiffer Naturec Center has 2 properties that accommodate winter hiking, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing. These are ungroomed, unmanned sites with no services except available parking, information kiosks, and trail maps.

The Lillibridge Site is at 1974 Lillibridge Road, Portville NY and has 5 miles of wooded trails of easy to difficult climbs. One easy trail would be at the entrance and is less than a quarter mile through the pristine old growth forest of hemlock and pine. There is a large meadow with a cover pavilion that is good to practice basic cross country skiing and is great for sledding.

The Eshelman Site is 1472 Yubadam Road, Portville NY and has 3 miles of trails. Half of the trails are easy meandering along Dodge Creek, a pond, and open mature fields (great for winter birding). The other half make moderate to difficult climbs through a mature northern hardwood forest. There are great views into Allegany County at the top.
