“Green is Easiest”
at Holiday Valley Resort

Having a history of leadership in the ski industry, Holiday Valley Resort has always been an environmentally conscious corporation.

The easiest slopes at Holiday Valley are marked with a round green sign, thus indicating the run will not be too challenging and will be good for novice and beginning SnowSports enthusiasts.

Always on the cutting edge Holiday Valley has incorporated that green circle symbolizes the areas new Single Stream Recycling program. This pilot program from Modern Disposal will enable Holiday Valley Resort to recycle plastic bottles, glass bottles, clean paper, clean cardboard and aluminum cans in single container. Receptacles will be placed inside and outside the base lodges, and at the Inn. Signage will direct customers to deposit any recyclable material into one receptacle. That material will be transported to a central dumpster at Holiday Valley, and then collected by Modern Disposal. The disposal company has a new facility where they will mechanically separate all of the material for recycling.

The most important factor of the Single Stream Recycling program is that customers and staff alike will be more aware of the need to recycle. The convenience of Single-stream recycling greatly increases participation and recyclable recovery resulting in the recovery more than 30 percent extra recyclable materials. Other positive factors of SSR are, landfill diversion percentages, cost savings through automation, and improved worker safety.
