USUALLY HER EQUIPMENT”….Jeannie Thoren

Listening To Jeannie Thoren
[Visit Official Website]
The event began by meeting Jeannie informally during a wine and cheese social. Jeannie mentioned that she loves Ellicottville and hopes to return for the Certified Thoren Clinic at HoliMont in February, She also has the uncanny sense to remember names and faces of her former students, all that plus wit and humor made listening and conversation most enjoyable. Then the women’s guru in skiing presented a very entertaining and informative talk on women’s ski equipment.
Jeannie Thoren didn’t start out to save the world of women skiers; she just wanted to be a better skier. Along the way she found herself transforming the thinking of the entire Ski industry.
Over the years Jeannie has become a mentor to hundreds of women who have taken her clinic at HoliMont and at Holiday Valley—Why? Because by proving that women are not small men and have special needs she has drastically improved their skiing abilities. Women do not have the upper body power of men; simply put, genetic and structural differences give men a larger upper torso wider shoulder span and strength, while a woman’s center of gravity is centered on her hips, which naturally causes women to sit back. This can cause distress and injuries. This is why so many women decide to go shopping while their spouses ski off to enjoy the sport.
A small army of converts will attest that taking The Jeannie Thoren Clinic, me included, along with some new equipment and or adjustments to boots, skis and bindings, women will find a world of difference in their skiing abilities. With that comes much needed confidence and best of all enjoyment of the sport!
“It was Jane Eschbaugh Marketing director for Holiday Valley who some 10 or so years ago first introduced Jeannie Thoren to Ellicottville and it’s ski shops” After listening to Her theory I was skeptical, however, seeing the remarkable improvement of the women who were fitted to their needs, and their exclamations of joy I was convinced! …Greg Dekdebrun.
