ECS LOSES IN BLOWOUT
(10/24/2008) By Josh Bower
Last Friday night the Ellicottville Eagles football and cheerleading teams celebrated “Senior Night” during which all the senior players and their parents were honored for their contributions to Ellicottville sports. The team suffered a blowout loss with the final score of 46-8 against Clymer. Scoring the only, but exciting, touchdown for the Eagles was starting running back Donny Moore. Freshman Zak Fisher also had rushes that contributed greatly to the team’s effort to beat undefeated Clymer. There were two scores scored off kicks for Clymer, and Heilman also had scores to contribute to the final score.
At halftime the Eagles’ cheerleaders performed a very complex and exciting routine to popular music. To start the game there was a fabulous rendition of the Star Spangled Banner sung by juniors Aaron Thomas, Brandon Potter, Clark Glendenning, Logan Harris, and freshman Josh Bower.
Addressing the recent Buffalo Bills game in which the 4-1 Bills were pitted against the 3-3 San Diego Chargers, many of us were annoyed with the untimely interruptions in which the power went off at the stadium. Nylon balloons getting caught in the transformers that supply the “The Ralph” with its power caused these troubling “breaks in the action.” Please be aware that releasing balloons into the air is not only illegal, but can also hurt the environment. If you are a Bills fan and were annoyed, as many were, with the interruptions in the amazing game, please do not release any balloons and tell your friends and family not to either.
