WWII Display Case
This display case that will help preserve the oral history of America’s greatest generation was built for the Cattaraugus County Museum in Machias by BOCES.
Drafting/CAD students Jim Schifley and former student Dave Patterson (pictured) with the finished case played a key role in making the project from a design standpoint.
Mr. Oliverio, who has spent about 300 hours in the past year on the project, is still interviewing veterans and can be reached at 716-699-8385. The project was the idea of Ellicottville Boces counselor Vince Oliverio, whose 85-year-old father fought in World War II. Mr. Oliverio decided to conduct audio interviews with his father and about 11 more area WWII vets, to record their stories before it is too late to preserve their roles in history. Mr. Oliverio would like this historical Veterans of WNY project to include Korean and Vietnam Vets as they are also aging out. If any one is interested in preserving the history of our region and helping with this phase of the project, contact Mr. Oliverio at 699-8385.
