Mark your calendars; you don’t want to miss this gloriously entertaining revival of the 1957 SMASH BROADWAY HIT! In 1957, the stage show The Music Man became a hit on Broadway, winning five Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and running for 1,375 performances. The cast album won the first Grammy Award for “Best Original Cast Album”. Originally designed as a 2 and 1/2 to 3 hour staged musical this special concert edition eliminates much of the dialogue and concentrates on the music which made the show so great. Certainly all of your audience members will remember “Seventy Six Trombones” or how about “There is just one place that can light my face, Gary, Indiana,” “Goodnight, My Someone,” “Wells Fargo Wagon” or “Shi-poo-pe”? This 1 ½ hr. show will follow the original story. The characters will be dressed in appropriate costuming. The staging of the production will center at the Ellicottville Gazebo in the Village Square. Meredith Wilson’s The Music Man, set in River City, Iowa in the year 1912, tells the wholesome and moral story of a charismatic con-man redeemed by the love of a good woman.
