10th Annual Children's First Festival; August 16-17
Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Ellicottville
A parade at 11 AM Saturday morning, August 16th will kick off Children 1st Fest 2008. Every is invited to participate; just show up alone or with your pet or pets at the old General Store parking lot at 10:30 AM to line up.
Children 1st is a two day family event that offers a fashion show, talent show, auction, hands on craft tent, a petting zoo and much, much more. Following the parade, the Foundation of Youth will present a performance “Big Bad” at the United Church of Ellicottville. This production will be directed by Lauren Scharf.
Saturday evening’s entertainment at the Village Square will feature “Rock ‘n Kids Club at 7 PM. Twelve talented entertainers from Junadi Productions will present “Bringin’ Back the Funk”. This group using 70’s music deals with the pressures, stress, and mixed messages that the media and entertainment industries are sending to our youth. Yuroz’s Paint the Planet Project, which has become a tradition during Children 1st, will follow immediately. This is great fun for the children who participate and all the spectators, albeit a bit messy. The fun will end with a great fireworks show.
Sunday “Mr. Ducky Wucky” himself, alias Glenn Colton will perform at the Gazebo from 12 noon until 1:00 PM to start off another day of fun. Lil’ Elvis is also scheduled to make an appearance at a time to be announced. Though we are well on our way in planning a great event for everyone, we are still looking for entries for our talent show, auction items and support in the way of donations, ideas, or help. For information or to offer your assistance, please call 699-5586 or 699-5385.
